The GussStrong Foundation started organically after members in the Worthington community organized a golf outing to support one of Thomas Worthington High School teachers, Mr. Stephen Gussler. Stephen had been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer, and in the matter of six short weeks, a group of individuals organized the 1st Annual GussStrong Golf Outing. Coach Gussler went on to fight his cancer for the next 4 years. The golf outing continued. The initial goal of the outing was to provide assistance to Stephen and his family while he underwent treatment. But Stephen always had a wish to 'pay it forward' to the community that meant so much to him.
The purpose of The GussStrong Foundation is to fulfill Coach Gussler's dream of paying it forward. We exist to help families impacted by cancer and the Worthington community. The GussStrong Golf Outing continues as our primary fundraiser to support the Foundation.
